At a Glance: ViewSonic VP3481 Review

ViewSonic’s VP3481 display was created to be a well-rounded solution for essentially any purpose. It has a wide range of features, including FreeSync support, and it comes pre-calibrated to provide the best color accuracy possible.

Design

This display features an ultra-wide 34-inch MVA panel with a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 that gives it a 21:9 aspect ratio. The panel is also curved and it supports a 100Hz refresh rate; both of these features help to create a more immersive gaming experience. This is helped by the ViewSonic VP3481’s aforementioned FreeSync support.

As mentioned in the intro, this display also comes pre-calibrated to improve its color accuracy. The HDR panel is rated to support 99 percent of the sRGB color space. This color gamut is arguably the most important, as it’s the most widely used. Our sister site PCMag tested this display using hardware designed for this purpose and determined the display actually came out slightly ahead of ViewSonic’s rating, with the full sRGB color space entirely covered.

It’s also worth noting this display features two built-in UPS Type-C ports and two USB Type-A ports that make connecting peripherals easy. The screen also has a pair of 5W speakers built-in, which PCMag reported produced decent volume and quality in testing.

Conclusion

The ViewSonic VP3481 is set with an MSRP of $699.99. This places it in the same price range as the LG UltraFine 24MD4KL-B that we previously looked at. The two displays are both highly competitive against each other with a mixture of features, one being 4K (the LG) and one (the ViewSonic) being curved and better for gaming. The ViewSonic VP3481 is also remarkably similar to HP’s 34F, but the ViewSonic here has better gaming features.

Overall, while there are specialized displays that are better for gaming or content creation, the ViewSonic VP3481 is highly versatile with strong features in both of these crucial departments. If you need a high-end display for gaming and for work, I’d highly recommend it.
